Are you an expat teen or young adult? Or the parent of an expat child? What phrase would you use to summarise your expat experience so far? Does it include words like 'change', 'adapting', 'adventure', 'challenging', 'gruelling', 'lonely', 'scary', or 'fun'?

Have you ever spoken to someone who understands that being an expat is like riding a rollercoaster—it's exciting, enriching, and enlightening, yet also filled with challenges and scary moments. After the initial excitement fades, after you've explored all the tourist spots and hosted your first round of visitors, lingering questions remain. Can this new place ever feel like home?

If you're a teen, you might have many questions: 'Who am I?' 'How do I start over after making such good friends in my home country?' 'What do I do if I feel angry or resentful towards my parents for making us move?' 'Is it normal to sometimes feel so low and lack the energy to tackle the day?'

As a young adult, you might wonder if you'll ever find your direction in life, or you might notice a tendency to doubt yourself in crucial moments when you need to trust yourself and the decisions you've made.

These are some of the questions my clients often ask me. I view my clients as whole beings who already possess the ability to help themselves and find the answers they need. With my qualifications in Educational Psychology and Counselling Psychology, I use my knowledge and intuition to support my clients in accessing those answers. Educating parents and teens on mental health-related topics is a passion of mine, and I frequently release courses and present talks on topics such as anxiety, emotional awareness, distress tolerance, and more.

I'm a registered Counselling Psychologist in the Netherlands, offering my services exclusively online.

My services are available in both English and Afrikaans.
