Rachel Kehoe - Intern Counsellor

Location: Leuven & Online

In 2023, I started a new chapter in Leuven, Belgium as a Canadian expat and trailing spouse. For the past 18 years, my career in elementary education has spanned various countries including South Korea, the UK, the Netherlands, Hong Kong and Bangkok, each enriching my life and broadening my perspective. The onset of the COVID pandemic, however, shifted my focus towards the importance of mental health, leading me to pursue a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology through the Yorkville University.

Embarking on an expatriate life brings a unique set of experiences and challenges. As someone who's lived it, I've felt the full range of emotions that come with such a transition – the excitement of new beginnings and the difficulties in establishing a sense of home in new environments. These personal experiences have granted me valuable insights into the emotional complexities faced by those adjusting to a new country.

In my counselling practice, I am deeply committed to empowering individuals. I hold a firm belief in the inherent growth potential within each person, fostered through openness, acceptance, and understanding. My approach is person-centred and strength-based, weaving in elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solutions-Focused techniques. I tailor my approach for each individual, recognizing that each journey is unique.

I am currently completing my Counselling Internship with Satori Health Centre Leuven.

I offer my services in English. I work with individuals as well as couples, both in-person and online at a reduced rate.
