I am a South African registered Counselling Psychologist and expat who moved to Utrecht in The Netherlands as a trailing spouse in 2021.  With this new adventure I decided to move my practice exclusively online. I subsequently also registered as a Psychoterapeute in the Netherlands. I currently work with clients across the globe and enjoy the flexibility this has brought to my own life.

My personal journey in adjusting in my host country as well as finding my feet as a trailing spouse has given me a much deeper understanding of the magnitude of the struggles that expats face.  I am passionate about assisting third culture kids, as well as adult individuals and couples within expat or international communities. In addition to this I have a particular interest in assisting clients to heal from traumatic experiences and have a keen interest in utilising brain-based and somatic techniques to do so.

Uprooting your life and landing in a whole new country and culture isn’t a small feat! Expats often paint a picture that their new lives are pure perfection, but research shows that the picture isn’t all rosy. Expats face twice the risk of mental health conditions, compared to those who never move abroad. Almost 90% of expats and those in transition experience feelings of isolation and anxiety. The more you feel anxious, the more you will isolate yourself – creating a vicious cycle which is often difficult to break out of alone.

I work from the Integrative Interactional approach to psychotherapy where the way we relate to and engage with the world around us is central to our mental well-being. I work with online with children aged 7 and up, adolescents, adult individual clients as well as with couples / partner relationships. I also work with families (from nuclear to blended and everything in between).

My services are online available in English and Cantonese.
