I am currently completing my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Before transitioning to psychology, I worked for many years in Belgian public service and Defence, including multiple assignments abroad in Africa and the Middle East.
Living and working in challenging environments has contributed to my curiosity about how people adapt to changing circumstances, cope with pressure and navigate periods of uncertainty. I am interested in how our experiences influence the way we see ourselves, relate to others and respond to the challenges we encounter.
My academic background includes both Clinical Psychology and Sociology. This encourages me to look at psychological difficulties within the broader context of a person’s relationships, social environment and life experiences.
As a therapist in training, I aim to create a calm, open and non-judgmental space where you can speak freely about what is troubling you or where you feel stuck. My approach is both problem- and strengths-based: while exploring the difficulties and patterns that bring you to therapy, we can also pay attention to your strengths, resources and what is already working in your life.
Together, we work towards a better understanding of what you are experiencing, explore meaningful ways of moving forward and taking action that fits with who you are and what matters to you. Part of this process is finding a sustainable balance between what life asks of you, what you want to achieve and what you need for yourself.
My native language is Dutch, and I am fluent in English. Having lived in Brussels for more than a decade, I also have a good working knowledge of French.
